To our LondonSports Baseball & Softball family
We have been closely monitoring the developments around the COVID-19 situation this week, which include communications from the UK Government and the British Baseball Federation, as well as yesterday’s communication from Little League International that recommended a suspension of related league activities until at least 6 April.
In reviewing the cautionary measures taken by organizations both in the UK and the US, we have decided that the safest and most prudent course of action is to postpone our upcoming spring training sessions scheduled for March 14th, 21st and 28th at Linford Christie Stadium. We always have been and will continue to be an organization that places the welfare of our participants and families first and foremost, and it is this concern that has led us to take this action.
We have taken today’s decision with heavy hearts, as spring is the time that baseball and softball begins again. Although spring training is currently postponed, hope springs eternal in our sports, and we encourage you and your children to continue to enjoy baseball and softball wherever and whenever you can.
In respect of this wish, we would like to highlight that any decision you take to play is clearly a personal decision for you. We are continually hearing that staying active and healthy is the best defense against most infections, so we hope and encourage you to get out with your kids, throw a ball around in the back garden, or at the Scrubs, or put together your own pick-up game.
As it stands today, we plan to celebrate Opening Day of our regular season at the Scrubs as scheduled on Saturday April 18th. We will continue to monitor the situation closely so please stay in touch with us and continue to keep baseball and softball in the forefront of your minds.
Stay safe and strong.
